Variety

Above – I’ll call this one “Palm Trees”

Bird Rock at the end of Froude Street (our street) at high tide.

Sunday evening – No, Sparty is not blowing a kiss. He’s working on his best pout. Well done!

Monday morning restorative – Even Bear gets in on the action.

Pay no attention to the lines on the hand … Lady bug. I found this little fellow or “Lady” in the kitchen. Of course, I took him/her outside.

The early morning sun cast a great shadow on this newly opened hibiscus flower – two different angles, same flower.

The girls …

Today – Music with Sparty followed by gymnastics and an afternoon with Maya.

Bats & Black Cats & Ghosts & Pumpkins

Above – So very proud!

Rolling dough.

Are they cool yet?

Decorating with precision!

And humor – sneaking sprinkles.

Such serious business … (flower and sprinkles were everywhere!)

Time to EAT!

Black tongue from the mix of sprinkles colors. There’s even some evidence left behind…

All cleaned up and standing around on a bar stool.

Yay cookies!!

Happy Halloween to all my blog followers – all one or two of you, and that includes me. Haha

Sunset Cliffs High Tides & Ponies

Above & below – Thursday morning view from the foot of Del Monte.

It wasn’t as gloomy as the day before. Check out how the water is going right up to the bluff. Can you find the seagull?

The following photos were taken over a couple days earlier in the week at different spots.

Bruce took this one. It’s my new favorite. Bear was looking for an escape route.

Today’s bonus video – the pony ride.

Throwback Thursday

Above – Colleen McFadden and Monette Kelly circa 1977 (?).

Below, me, Kathy McFadden Monfort (Colleen’s daughter) and Monette Kelly (my mom) after having lunch together Monday at Casa de Reyes in Old Town. Kathy is just as sweet as her mom was.

.

This was all the sun in the yard Hogan could find. He stayed just outside of the shade to bask.

View Wednesday morning on my walk with Bear from the foot of Del Monte. As gloomy as it looks, it was such a beautiful view.

On the way to music class Wednesday morning, Sparty wanted to cry, but he didn’t want to cry. He started out… but he stopped before we drove away from the house. We saw a truck, and then a plane, and before I knew it, he was under my spell. It was the best music class with him so far. I think he’s warming up to our Wednesday morning outings. To top it off, he fell asleep in the car on the way home.

He is such a cutie and so sweet, and shy. I love it … he’ll burp and then say “burp.” He really knows a lot of words and understands everything you say to him. There is one thing though … he calls me (& his Pappa) “Pappa.”  I thought there for a while he only knew Pappa’s name, but then I realized he was also calling me the same name. He’ll figure it out. Someday…

Maya waiting for gymnastics class to start watching and thoroughly enjoying Alo’s Skype’d “Twinkle Twinkle Little Star.” Later at the house, I played the video again and she sang along with it. So cute!

Another Sunday Funday – Part 2

Above – Atop the slide.

More from the park at Liberty Station … An abundance of fun for everyone!

At the end of it all … Pooped!

Even Bear took advantage of the quiet time, in my spot …

Another Sunday Funday – Part 1

Above – Sliding Siblings.

The day started off with Pappa and Maya making scrambled eggs as Bear-Z watches on.

Yummmmm …

Then Sparty arrived.

And Hogan had breakfast.

Field trip and coconut water!

The park at Liberty Station.

Maya and Pappa take a little break.

On the bouncy thingie.

Later while watching the Chargers get pummeled by the Raiders, Akuch sent me these photos. How fun!

Alo and this frog are pretty tight. This isn’t the first time I’ve seen them together.

Hey, guys … Did you know there’s a spider in that tree? Um, yeah, it’s right above your heads, and watch out for that web!

A big hurdle – we found out yesterday Bill was approved for MTS transportation services! Next step is figuring out how to implement the service. No hurdle is too high for this team!

Oktoberfest – Pt. Loma Nazarene

Above – Waiting in line for the pony ride.

It’s such a beautiful view from the campus.

More waiting in line for the ponies.

Amma & Pappa selfies while waiting for the ponies …
 At last!

I have a video, too.

Getting strapped up for the rock climbing wall. Maya observed closely how the other kids were climbing up – taking mental notes.

Let the monkey climb!

Technically, to climb you must weigh at least 40 lbs. I’m guessing Maya only weighs about 35, but I believe she more than proved she’s climb worthy and then some!

Kettle corn for everyone!

Pooped at the end of the day. I was exhausted too!

Bathtime and silliness!

Just another day in the life …

Above – Hogan on safari.

Lookie, Bear carried my socks downstairs for me! Eager to go on a walk. This is her guilty look.

Photo worthy …

Our SD Lifeguards practicing to save lives.

I had lunch with Bill yesterday at Atria. This tuna melt from the “anytime menu” was really good. I ate the whole thing.

Yum. German chocolate cake and strawberry ice cream.

More chest openings from the playground …

We heard from Ron last night from Cabo. They weren’t anticipating any winds there, only some high surf. So no worries.

Oh Dear …

Above – it can only get better.

And it did. The little bugger cried almost the whole way to music class, but settled down and enjoyed class after all.

After class, enjoying some cold Apricot/Mango juice.

… and playing shy.

The little guy passed out on the way home about 2 blocks away from the house. I took him straight from the car seat to the crib, and according to Rachel he slept for about an hour and a half!

Later, Maya at gymnastics. She’s a bit of a ham …

Later still, back at the house – peanut butter on crackers as we did some arts and crafts.

Happy Birthday to Jen!

Above – Throwback photo from Maya’s 2nd Birthday. I figured throwing back would be a good idea on this BIG birthday! I hope you have a great day, Jen.

There was a big happening on my Monday morning walk at the foot of Orchard. I couldn’t find anything online as to why three news crews, one police car and two City workers were hanging around, so I did some sleuthing of my own.

I found this interesting article on the OB Rag website from September 2, 2015 that might explain why one of the City workers was digging around on the side of the bluff. He was probably attempting to block the cave so some derelict doesn’t go getting him- or herself killed. Click on link or cut and paste into your browser: http://obrag.org/?p=98592#.ViVKMdZX9FI

Bear and I quickly became bored and moved on to our favorite private beach to take advantage of some photo ops. That is, after she rolled in a pile of dirty, stinky seaweed covered with flies near an old washed up lobster trap. Yuck!

I love the clouds and ocean contrast in this first photo.

Bear didn’t seem to mind the smell. In fact, I think she was quite proud of herself!

Later, after meeting up with Bruce … A bird’s eye view.

Trying to catch the photo during mid spray was tricky until I decided to hold my finger down on the button. See, I’m smarter than the camera!

The Martian – Thumbs up.

Matt Damon – Thumbs up.

Cinepolos Luxury Theater Del Mar – Thumbs up. Big, roomy, cozy recliners & good customer service, delivering our XL, extra buttery popcorn directly to our seats.

It’s been a long time since we’ve gone to a movie. I don’t even remember when or what movie we last went to last. I read the book (great read!) so I was interested in how this could be made into a movie. I thoroughly enjoyed it!
