Alo at Gymnastics & Plants

Akuch sent me these photos of Alo at gymnastics last week.  It looks like he’s enjoying himself.

Meanwhile, the Gardner was kept busy this morning planting the plants we purchased yesterday.  The small flower bed is colorful.

And the planter box on the west side now has Arabian Jasmine.  These plants will grow to be 4-6′ high and will bush out.  It’ll be a nice hedge and will give the new tenants and Bill some privacy.

The Gardner will be filling in the dirt area with some nice looking rocks to keep critters from using it as a depository.

I’m still working on getting rid of this cough but today is better than yesterday. It’s a good thing because soon Maya & Sparty will be dropped off for an all nighter.

Home Again

I’m still struggling with this pesky cough and dizziness. I ended up at the doctor yesterday, and he thinks I’ve got bronchitis. I’m now on antibiotics and resting again today with Bear. She doesn’t seem to mind having me hang around with her all day.

Check out the hummingbird I saw in the yard over the weekend.

We Skyped With Robb Akuch & Alo Sunday night. Had a horrible connection and needed to use our phones for the audio. Alo had a little too much sugar that day & was bouncing all over the place.

Earlier in the week Akuch sent me this photo of Dr. Alo taking the shark’s temperature. At least he found the right end!

Stairway to Loft Makeover

DURING – This huge beam had to be installed because the floor was sagging.  Look at the 1st “after” photo below to see how beautifully it was covered up.

AFTER – The finished Loft!  New windows, refurbished wood floors, walls insulated and dry walled, new huge beam, electrical, and some Cindi TLC (beautify, trim & paint).  Oh, and the stairway refurb too – new paint & trim and new carpet.

This one’s a panorama so it might look slightly warped.

WHOO HOO!!  It still needs screens on the windows, windows cleaned, & blinds installed, but not bad for a sneak peek.

Thursday

I picked Maya up for gymnastics and Sparty greeted me.

Maya beat me to the car … “I won!” she said.

Throwback

It must have been Easter or maybe we were dressed up to go shopping at Woolworth’s with Grandma that day, I don’t know.  But I didn’t like getting dressed up.  No surprise there.

Sparty (not in his high chair).  He loves that little couch!

Skyping Sunday night, Alo put on his happy face, counted to 10 for us and told us the colors of his, Mommy’s and Daddy’s shirts!  Oh and showed off his new ambulance that makes three noises.

Such a collection of books!

Alo loves to read.  I really enjoyed reading his bedtime stories when I was there last week.

Bay Area – Day 3

Yesterday we went for a drive through some very green and beautiful hills to Tilden Farms where there are farm animals you can feed and interact with.

Alo was very cautious!

After Robb fixed us a good lunch we went on another outing to a nearby lake and took a nice walk.  Everything there is green & beautiful.

Alo puts on a happy face.

I had a really nice time & enjoyed spending time with the family.  It was a treat to see how well Alo is growing and learning.  He has some good books & I read him his bedtime story both nights. He listens carefully and can identify everything on the pages.  Next time I visit he’ll probably be reading to me!  Akuch is doing well with her pregnancy.  We did a lot of walking, and she was able to trek around pretty well.  She’s got a healthy appetite, too.  I’m guessing she’s going to have a big baby boy!

Here’re a couple cute YouTube videos of Alo brushing his teeth.

Bay Area – Day 2

We had a BIG day yesterday. I use the word “big” from an Alo perspective – Big Truck, Big Boat, Big Bart.  Just about everything really cool is Big.

We started with breakfast in Walnut Creek, then a drive through the tunnel to the ferry. We took two legs to Sausolito – Oakland to SF, the SF to Sausolito.

The day started out cold, windy and rainy, but the weather improved as the day went by.

Here we are approaching Sausolito (in the background).

Stopping to check out the bay, the birds and the sea lions.

While Alo napped in his stroller, we took a rest at a park on the south side of town. The peninsula across the bay  is Piedmont, and on the other side of that peninsula is Tiburon. From where we stood, the houses look very expensive. As with the houses on the hill in Sausalito, they all appear to have very good unobstructed views.

In SF waiting for the ferry back to Oakland.  “Hi Birdie.”
