Maya & Alo

Here are some pictures of Maya that Jen texted me, both with Maya sound asleep. Jen looks pretty tired in the first picture after battling with Maya to get her to sleep.

Ron’s probably not going to be very happy I’m posting the next picture, but I’ll take that risk because it’s very precious.

On Sunday, Robb, Akuch and Alo came by and watched the second half of the SF v. Seattle game and had pizza with us. Alo slept most of the time, but I got my hands on him after he woke up.

One last picture. Last Thursday I was so surprised when I received a package from Toni, Morgan’s mom. It was a really cute Lululemon yoga outfit (that fits me) and a nice card. It was such a surprise! I’ve never had anything Lululemon before. In fact, I didn’t even know what the logo looks like until now. Here’s my attempt at a self portrait to show the outfit. One leg has a blue racing stripe down the side (which you can’t see in the picture), and the other leg has a yellow stripe around the bottom of the leg.

Don’t worry, I took the tags off before heading out to La Mesa to teach.

Lots with a view

I paid a visit yesterday to my long ago passed relatives. It was a little hazy, but still a beautiful morning for a solitude drive to the point. It had been so long since I visited Grandma and Grandpa that I had to stop at the office to do a search and get a map. I can’t believe it’s been thirty years… Their site is so beautiful, I should really go to visit more often.

The plot is to the far right near the big tree. You can see a small bouquet of (plastic) flowers… it’s just in front and to the left of that.

If I could come up with one word for them, I believe it would be “GENEROUS.”

Then off to visit Jon, but first I had to find him. I ended up going back to the office to take another look at the map. I bet it’s been since before Billi died that anyone has gone to visit him. He, too, has a great view, only his is of SD Bay, North Island, downtown and to the east.

I had to take a closeup of this really cool, huge sailboat. What the picture doesn’t show is that it looked as though there were a LOT of people on it. Next time, I’ll bring the telescopic lens and hope for a clearer day.

Well, I’m back at work today after having four days off. My usual work week – three days on, four days off. It might sound like a vacation, but I really do spend a lot of time working at the computer on work related projects, Billi Trust related projects and property management for Cape May, not to mention teaching five yoga classes a week & a Friday afternoon babysitting (complete with baby yoga) gig.

Yesterday proved to be a victory over a final detail of getting a “troubled” tenant to move out by January 31! General Release is now signed by both tenants of the unit. Heavy sigh …

Tomorrow – baby picture(s).

Long walk = great photos

Yesterday I took a long walk from the house to the end of Sunset Cliffs, to OB & walked along the pier & back up the hill. It was a perfect time & perfect conditions for some great photos.

Alo & later Maya

With the exception of a little fussiness in the beginning, Alo and I had a good time together yesterday. We started with a walk and then Alo had his first yoga lesson – partner Baddha Konasana (bound angle pose).

Then we played …

And then a very tired Maya was dropped off. Here Maya is giving Alo a piggy-back ride. Sorry it wasn’t very light so the picture’s a little blurry.

Tragedy at Sunset Cliffs

… or was it mere stupidity?

Last Sunday morning as I worked in my home office I heard sirens. Lots of sirens. Not unusual in OB on a day the Chargers would be playing their 2nd game of the post season. First time in … how many years???

But the next day I heard on the radio that a young woman from Chicago fell to her death off Sunset Cliffs while backing up so her sister could take her picture.

Yesterday on our regular Thursday morning drive along the cliffs, we saw the spot where the incident occurred. I, of course, had to get out of the car and take a picture. There’s something seriously wrong here.

Alo

In this interesting picture Robb texted to me yesterday, Alo appears to have pulled out Akuch’s hair. It also appears he may have soiled himself, but after a closer look, I believe he’s got some sort of super hero image (Spiderman?) on his diaper that you can see through his one-zee (I have no idea how to spell that). The bottom line here is that Alo is getting big, and growing every day. I don’t want to know what the grocery bill in that family is going to be in another year and for years to follow.

Looking forward to Friday when we’ll have an “overlap” of babysitting doodies.

Hey! That’s my picture!

After teaching my “all boy” class last night (that was fun!), I went into the kitchen and checked out the mail for the day. Right on top of the stack was the latest “Yoga Samachar” a publication sent out by IYNAUS “Iyengar Yoga National Association of the US.” On the cover was a photo I took at the Institute when I was in India.

When I was there, a friend of mine who works on the publication asked if I would take a specific picture for him of the place outside the door where everyone leaves their shoes before entering the Institute. He told me he wanted it for the cover of the publication. So, I asked permission from the Institute first, then took several photos and sent them to him. Below is a photo of the cover of the publication.

Since I’m “talking” about the Institute, the next picture is one my teacher (Gloria Goldberg) sent to me this morning. She’s been gone about 5 weeks. First in India celebrating Guruji’s 95th birthday, then she went to China to teach workshops, and now she’s back in India studying with the Iyengars.

20140114-075812.jpg
This is a form of supported backbend in the tressler. Did I mention she’s 70 years old?

And while I’m mentioning my teacher, here’s a picture of her in China teaching a teacher training class. She is the person standing most to the right. I think the other person standing is probably an interpreter.

But let’s not forget the little ones. Bruce babysat Alo yesterday and seemed to have everything under control when I got home from work.

India construction site

You may recall the photos I posted of the structure being built across the street from flat where I was staying in Pune. One of my room mates sent me this picture yesterday.

20140113-074103.jpg
You can see that it’s still not complete – the bamboo scaffolding on the right side and the piles of sand inside the gate. I suppose it makes sense it wouldn’t be finished yet. After all, everything is done by hand – no machinery.

The people sitting outside the entry are coconut vendors waitiing there for students to leave the Institute (which is across and slightly down the street). They sell coconuts – bang a hole in the top, insert a straw & there you have fresh (safe to drink) coconut milk.

One of my yoga friends took a picture of me there drinking from a fresh coconut, but almost 6 months later, I’m still waiting for that picture. She lives in Riverside and attends San Diego classes sometimes, so I’ll get her to send that picture one day and will post it.

Friday with Alo

Alo is getting BIG. I think HUGE is a better word for him, and his hands are humungous (if you don’t know the background of that word, it’s worth Googling – “humungous”).

We went for a walk, and he stayed awake for the most part, checking out everything along the way.

20140111-062201.jpg
Then after a short crying spell, he fell asleep, so I was able to set him in the office while I got a little work done.

20140111-062252.jpg
Then we played and danced & watched some Sprout on tv (an educational program on PBS). Here are a couple self portraits.

Then Papa came home …

And he passed out on my lap …

Such is the life of a 4 month old.

Off to LA bright & early.
