Sambora!

Alo at toddler class. “Sambora” is Arabic for penis. Of course Alo pointed that out – an advantage of being a multi lingual toddler. I didn’t even know they made dolls with “appendages.”

Here he is with some of his new friends.

A couple weeks ago Robb, Akuch & Alo met up with Robb’s friend Dwall and family.

My memory of Dwall is that he’s super nice and a really funny guy.

Cluck Cluck

Alo’s already making friends in SF. He went to a birthday party for his friend Annie, and she has chickens!

He looks so much older and it’s only been three weeks since he’s been gone.

On a side note, Bruce found a DEAL on a shower/tub enclosure for 4754. He sent me these photos.

I suppose it’ll look better when it’s installed.

Cheers!

… and piano lessons.

IMG_1137.JPG
Actually, Akuch is the one taking piano lessons and giving Alo some instructions.

We Skyped Robb, Akuch & Alo Sunday night. They’re planning a drive to SD the 2nd week of February. Robb has a week off – his first of two Spring Breaks. It would be nice to get a family photo when they’re here if we can coordinate with everyone.

We have a port-a-potty!!

IMG_1136.JPG
The crew worked all day yesterday cleaning out all the junk & some demo, and looks like they’ve got another day or so ahead of them to finish that task.

Peppermint Patty!!

The best part of Nati’s with Papa Bill is having Peppermint Patties for dessert.

When we visited Friday, Maya was running around the house with her headlamp on. It was so cute, except when she was looking directly at me, blinding me …

Maya and Sparty play so nicely together. Maya just loves him.

… and who wouldn’t?

On a side note to Grandma, today marks the day an outhouse arrives and the demo guys show up to begin removing all the trash, junk & mess left behind from the previous tenants at 4754. Bruce thinks it could take a couple days to get it cleaned out & the walls demo’d for new electrical and insulation.

Out of respect, I won’t post any “before” photos, but rather will post ongoing photos of the cleaned up premises and work as it moves along so you can see the progress. We’ve made a couple decisions during your absence we think you’ll approve of (mostly to do with the kitchen), and hopefully by the time you return, we’ll have a close-to-finished product. It’s my understanding Cindi will begin work in the loft next week while work downstairs in the bathroom, etc. is going on. Bruce has been working hard pricing, getting estimates, interviewing workers, etc. I think he’s enjoying being a general contractor.

What’s that in the tree?

A. A monkey?
B. A baboon?
C. Ron?

If you guessed all three, you are correct!

Ron showed off his agility Saturday by climbing Grandma’s tree and rooftop to take down her holiday lights.

“Babe, bring me another beer.”

Alo enjoys the luxury of reclining in front of the fireplace at his new digs.

In the meantime, Bruce and I went to the Natural History Museum yesterday and saw the King Tut exhibit – quite interesting. Along the walk to the Museum we passed what I believe may be the tree planted in memory of my dad, Jack Kelly (circa 1977). I have a photo somewhere of Janni, Jamie, and me (pregnant with Ron) holding Robb. I need to dig it up to compare to see if I got the right tree in the photo below.

I got notification the family calendars should arrive on or around January 9, so I’ll be making calendar deliveries soon!

It’s cold outside!

Pizza Nova with the grandkids

I took this video a couple weeks ago at Pizza Nova. It’s cute how Maya and Alo communicate. They’re going to miss each other.

Now, just for fun, check out this YouTube video. It made me laugh & I believe you will too.

I finished the family calendar today. It took me about 8 hours total to get it done and I think it’s going to be the best one yet. The theme this year is the grandkids. It’s pretty much all about them. I should receive it before January 15, and I’ll be distributing them when they arrive. Working on it brought back a lot of memories of the past year. There are so many cute pictures. I can’t wait to see the final product.

Fair well

Ernie and other toys await their departure, and an empty high chair evidencing the loneliness and quiet house after Robb, Akuch & Alo left yesterday.

IMG_1010.JPG
Robb texted us at 11pm last night that they made it to their new home safely.

Along the way, they stopped for lunch at Costco (must be a pregnant thing), Alo wearing his t-shirt representing the fact that he’s San Francisco bound.

IMG_1013.JPG

Robb just sent these photos of Alo enjoying the beautiful park in their neighborhood.

IMG_1016.JPG

We will miss them more than I can explain, but how fortunate we are to be living in this day & age where we can stay in touch so easily by email, texting, blogging and FaceTime and Skype. I can’t wait to FT Alo and show him what’s going on out his window!
