Bay Area – Day 2

We had a BIG day yesterday. I use the word “big” from an Alo perspective – Big Truck, Big Boat, Big Bart.  Just about everything really cool is Big.

We started with breakfast in Walnut Creek, then a drive through the tunnel to the ferry. We took two legs to Sausolito – Oakland to SF, the SF to Sausolito.

The day started out cold, windy and rainy, but the weather improved as the day went by.

Here we are approaching Sausolito (in the background).

Stopping to check out the bay, the birds and the sea lions.

While Alo napped in his stroller, we took a rest at a park on the south side of town. The peninsula across the bay  is Piedmont, and on the other side of that peninsula is Tiburon. From where we stood, the houses look very expensive. As with the houses on the hill in Sausalito, they all appear to have very good unobstructed views.

In SF waiting for the ferry back to Oakland.  “Hi Birdie.”

Blogged using both Amma’s iPad and iPhone.

Bay Area – Day 1

Robb, Akuch & Alo met me at the baggage area.  Alo was in a bit of a daze from the drive when I arrived, but he quickly started talking about everything – yellow bus, Bart, big truck, etc. – just about everything he saw, and he repeated everything we said.  What he said most “Amma sit with you,”  because when I got in the back seat with him I said “Amma’s going to sit with you.”

We stopped in Oakland and had sushi for dinner.

Masu Saki – refillable!  It is poured into a wooden box.  For the first sip, you sprinkle a small amount of salt on the corner of the box, then take your mouth to the wooden box to drink.  After that you can pick the box up to drink.

Akuch had ribs.

Alo had (among other things) edimame, which he says succinctly.

“Hi Maya”

“Hi Mommy”

“Hi Daddy”

Lake Merritt is right across the street from the sushi restaurant. Evidently this is the “good” part of Oakland.  Here’s a panorama.  Very pretty.

Robb & Alo walking.  It was cold.

There’s a cold front moving through the area, and it’s suppose to rain today, but according to the Weather Channel, only lightly from 9 until 2.    It’s 48 outside right now (6am).  Let’s see if my Southern California clothing will keep me warm enough!

Grandsons & more blooms

Alo at Gymnastics.  Looks like he’s got a boo boo on his owie …

Sparty at sleep.  So sweet!

Sunday Skyping with Robb, Akuch & Alo.  Tomorrow I get to see them in person!

I took some more blooming photos this morning.   Look how many blooms are on this pink orchid now!  It’s very happy.  I’ll be heading out for a light water when done with this post.

The many colors of Hibiscus.

Today, simple preparations for an “easy” birthday party.  Happy Birthday (yesterday), Mom!

Playing Catch Up

Time to catch up on photos of the past couple weeks.

Haha.  Alo doesn’t want to get too close!  Taking shelter …

I’m getting excited about my short trip next weekend to the Bay Area!

Cape May is getting very close to being done.  The floors are beautiful, but covered with paper for protection while finishing work is done inside, so I don’t have photos yet.

it is with deepest sorrow that we bid farewell yesterday to our best friend, Annie.

Yesterday & Today

Yesterday … Cabinets are getting installed.

Concrete gets poured (Maya observes from inside) …

Today, cabinets getting installed …

Floors being sanded …

Cindi works on the windows…

Concrete sets … (This one’s a panorama taken with my iPhone)

Bruce hashes it out with the concrete guy … I think they made happy in the end.

It’s the end of the day.  I left Cape May a couple hours ago.  By now I believe all the cabinets should be in and the knobs placed, including the vanity in the bathroom.  The piles of wood and concrete the concrete guys left there should be cleaned up and the place should look as though it’s really coming together.  It’s getting really exciting!

Big Day!

At 4754 today, concrete gets poured, cabinet installation begins and the flooring repair in the loft begins!  After today, it will be all down hill.  I can’t wait to see how the driveway and walkways turn out.

Above, Alo begins gymnastics – a photo Akuch sent Tuesday.

I’m heading out now to take Bear for a walk, then gymnastics with Maya, lunch at Nati’s with Bill, teaching in La Mesa this afternoon, then back home to teach an evening class.  Thursday’s are by far my busiest day of the week.

Annie’s got her ups and downs.  Today’s not a good day.  She doesn’t have much of an appetite, and she’s lost quite a bit of weight.  We’re just taking it day by day, and keeping her comfortable and loved.  She still seems to have enough energy to follow me around the house & hang out at my feet while I sit in the office.  Here are the girls now:

Skyping

We Skyped last night from Ron & Jen’s.  All seems well in the Bay Area.  Alo showed off some of his numbering and color skills.  Here’s a photo Akuch sent me earlier in the day yesterday.

It looks like the good weather is extending up north.

Here are some other photos from the week.  This is a great picture of Jen & Sparty!

Here’s Maya passed out on Friday night after a day out around town and Coronado Beach with the girls.  She plays hard!

And Ron and Sparty last night after Sparty’s bath.

I love all my kids!!!  Every one!
